Permanent Makeup FAQs

Permanent makeup, also known as intradermal pigmenation or cosmetic tattooing, is a completely safe technique which employs natural pigments into the dermal layer of the skin.  This state-of-the-art procedure is used for a variety of semi-permanent cosmetic enhancements including semi-permanent eyebrows, eyeliner, lipliner and full lip color.  Semi-permanent beauty marks are also available.

DOES IT HURT?

Let's talk about this honestly.  I have had permanent makeup procedures three times.  It was uncomfortable but not unbearable.  Does it hurt?  That depends on the individual's own pain tolerance level.  I cannot answer this question as we are all different.  I can say that I do all in my power to keep my clients as comfortable as possible during the procedure application.  Topical anesthesia is used before, during and after the procedure to help alleviate any discomfort you may experience.  We ladies endure a lot to be beautiful - botox, breast agumentation, face lifts, lip injections, liposuction, chemical peels, and the list goes on. I can assure you that my permanent makeup procedures are virtually painless compared to many of the things we do to ourselves to be beautiful.  But - we are worth it!

IS IT PERMANENT?

No. Permanent makeup procedures fade over time.

WHEN CAN I GO BACK TO WORK?

Your procedure area or areas may be irritated or swollen the day of your procedure.  Therefore, you may choose not to go back to work until the following day.  Post procedure instructions will be given to you at the time of consultaton for your review.

IS THE PROCEDURE SAFE?

Permanent makup procedures are safe if the technician has had proper education and follows CDC guidelines.  There are many states that require the technician to be licensed.  I am state licensed and a certified intradermal technician.

Single use - sterilized needles and machine parts are used for each client and then properly disposed.  Your technician should ask for your acknowlegement of properly disposed needles after your procedure for your safety and others.

WHAT IF I DO NOT LIKE IT or MY HUSBAND DOES NOT LIKE IT AFTER IT IS DONE?

Permanent makeup procedures are semi-permanent for a long time.  You should make sure you want the cosmetic enhancement procedure before you contemplate any micropigmentation procedure/s.  If you are uncomfortable, wait until you are comfortable with your decision.  A waiver is required for you to sign.  Once done, it is hard to reverse.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?

WOW! Glad you asked.  I personally love the benefits of permanent makeup!  I love the fact that when I wake up - I have a face!  Being in high school in the 70's, I plucked my eyebrows so thin for years that over time they just stopped growing.  Without conventional makeup, I looked like Whoopie - no brows.  That may be fine for some people but for me, I hated the way I looked until I discovered permanent makeup.  I had brows, eyeliner and lips done and have never looked back.  I love the way I look when I do not have on conventional makeup.

Women with hair loss, graying, asymmetrical facial features, makeup allergies, physically challenged, sparse eyebrows and eyelashes, poor eyesight, cancer, oily skin, burn survivors, Alopecia, Vitiligo, Trichotillomania, scars that need to be camouflaged and light facial hair enjoy permanent makeup benefits as well as those who just want to appear younger!

HOW LONG IS THE PROCEDURE?

Each procedure is different depending on the client's skin tone, pain tolerance level, and cooperation.  Under normal circumstances, each procedure requires a time frame of approximately one hour.

SHOULD I HAVE PLANS THE EVENING OF MY PROCEDURE?

I recommend you stay home and rest after your procedure with no plans for that evening.

WILL MY PROCEDURE FADE?

Yes.  Initially following the procedures, the colors will appear dark and will fade dramatically upon healing.  It is important that clients consider this when choosing their colors because average fading results are fifty percent.

HOW LONG WILL IT LAST?

Depending on the individual, the longetivity of each procedure varies.  A permanent makeup procedure can last six months to years. Permanent makeup is an investment that will need to be maintained to keep it bright and fresh.  There is a $75 touch-up fee per each procedure in the four to six weeks post procedure.

A full procedure fee is required should a client refresh their procedure after six weeks.

MAY I BRING A FRIEND OR MY KIDS TO MY APPOINTMENT OR CONSULTATION?

Permanent makeup procedures require complete concentration from your intradermal technician.  Therefore, I kindly ask that you make arrangements for your children not to accompany you during your consultation or appointment.  You deserve the undivided attention of your intradermal technician during this time.  No distractions such as cell phone calls (please turn off during appointment), talking, singing, IPOD, etc. are in your best interest as well as your technician's.  Bringing a friend during your procedure is not recommended as it also will distract your technician and you.

How long do lash extensions last?

Lash extensions last about four weeks to six weeks depending on the individual.  Refills are required once a month to maintance a full lash appearance.
